School Ethos

At Sparkwell Primary School we are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our pupils so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere where everyone matters. We believe every pupil should be able to participate in all school activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm. This is the responsibility of every adult employed by, or invited to deliver services at, Sparkwell Primary School. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional abuse, neglect and bullying.

We Value:

  • Truthfulness, honesty, politeness and consideration towards others
  • Respect and tolerance of the opinions, values and beliefs of others
  • Staff ability to inspire confidence and courage to achieve success
  • The qualities of patience and sensitivity
  • Self-discipline, self-respect, empathy and the capacity to live as an independent, self-motivated person with an awareness of our society and the world community
  • Our children’s inquisitive and imaginative minds,  their questions, communication skills  and participation as members of our school community

Our core values are:

  • Respect - for others and our environment
  • Responsibility - for our own actions and to show leadership skills
  • Resilience - to keep going even when things get tough
  • Creativity - being curious, problem solving and enjoy experiencing the arts

Ethos:

The culture of our school will be based on the principles of communication, inclusion and mutual respect. All dealings between staff, students and parents will be characterised by the Relational Approach. Partnership, working together and celebrating our diverse families, are the corner stone of our school community.
We are committed to providing a service to our pupils who are recognised as the most important group within the school community. Childrens' rights to voice opinions will be recognised and staff will work with them to deal with their concerns.
When dealing with difficult situations we will seek to resolve problems by mediation, respecting the feelings of all involved.

The school will continue to develop its existing positive links with the local community and promote civic pride in its achievements and reputation.
