Pupil Voice

At Sparkwell Primary School, we believe that our children are the most important people and we endeavour to give ALL children lots of opportunities to share their thoughts and opinions and play an active role in the decisions that affect their learning and well-being.

We have lots of ways that the children can do this formally, such as through the school council, subject ambassadors, pupil questionnaires and the Eco Committee. However we also want to create an ethos that allows the children to regularly share their opinions in an informal way, in class and also to Mrs McLoughlin. Mrs McLoughlin's door is always open to children (and staff) and the school dog Luna is also a good listener!

This term we have our School Council and Eco Committee in place, ready to share their ideas and help us make plans. Also this term we have introduced our new subject ambassadors and we are excited to see how this will develop! We have a Year 5 or 6 KIVA monitor out at lunchtime to help children needing support and to praise children playing well with others.
Subject Ambassadors

What is a subject Ambassador?

Subject Ambassadors have a designated subject area and work closely with the teacher responsible for that subject. They provide a unique perspective on their subject and ensure that all of the children at Sparkwell have the opportunity to achieve in their subject area.

Subject Ambassadors support the subject teacher with things such as learning walks, observations, themed weeks and pupil interviews. They also ensure the school's values are evident in the learning.

Mrs Hyams manages the Subject Ambassadors and helps them to link with the Subject Leaders. We have regular meetings to review what’s been going on in our subject areas and to decide what the next steps are!

By working together all of us are aiming to improve the standards and raise the levels of attainment and progress at Sparkwell School.
