Children's University

We are a registered Learning Destination for the Children's University, in association with Plymouth University.

The scheme aims to encourage children between the ages of 5 and 14 to learn new activities and skills during out of school time and as a result they gain stamps that build towards a graduation at Plymouth University, who are partners in the project. The first award is a bronze award for completing 30 hours, leading to a final gold award and graduation ceremony for 1000 hours. Children can work towards this until they are 14 years old so there is no rush! They have a paper passport for collecting their hours and parents then upload these online to their child's portal.

The activities that can be validated include activities that you may be able to get a degree in, this is therefore wide and can include sports, art clubs, after school clubs such as French or art this term and certain events which may be held at venues such as the Museum in Plymouth, the Aquarium or at the University. If they are out of school activities you as parents are still responsible for organising and paying for the clubs. All after school clubs held in school (other than the childcare) count as validated activities as do any activities held at validated learning destinations. Below is a list of registered destinations who can stamp your passport, if your child regularly attends a club and they are interested in becoming a learning destination I can give them details of this. Generally, at places such as the aquarium, museum and the zoo etc. the children need to be attending an organised event rather than just a look round with you.
