Safeguarding

Sparkwell All Saints Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We follow all guidance in the document Keeping Children Safe in Education (2018) and all staff, regular volunteers and Trustees have full DBS checks.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding Policy which can be viewed in the policies section of our website.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with the parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. We work closely with the Devon Children Safeguarding Boards and Plymouth Safeguarding Board to ensure our children are safe from abuse, harm or child sexual exploitation. We are an Operation Encompass School that supports children who have experienced domestic abuse.

Our senior designated teacher with responsibility for safeguarding in school is Tom Cole and the deputy is Jen Sparkes. There is also a designated lead in the Link Academy Trust. You may speak to us if you have any concerns about your own, or another, child.

If you want to know more about how to keep your child safe online a great site to visit is: https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ and there are useful videos by CEOP here. Visit here to see some really useful one minute guides for parents.

A great programme to help you talk about difficult issues with your child is the NSPCC Pants Campaign and for the oldest children this one is recommended.

Parent Info is a great place for advice on all things related to online usage, screen time, useful websites etc.

The NSPCC website is a useful first place to visit if you have any questions or concerns about keeping children safe, this includes online safety, sexting and child sexual exploitation. This website also has a lot of guidance on child sexual exploitation, including a helpline.

Childline have a website aimed specifically at children under 12 with good advice and resources.

The Anti-bullying Alliance have written this guide for parents.
