Behaviour rooted in relationships
At Sparkwell, we believe that positive relationships and high expectations help every child to thrive. We are committed to creating a calm, safe and supportive environment where children feel valued, develop confidence and achieve their best.
Our approach is based on the Trust's Relational Approach, which places relationships at the heart of learning and behaviour. We recognise that behaviour is often a form of communication and seek to understand the reasons behind it so that children receive the support they need to succeed.
We teach children to take responsibility for their actions, understand the impact of their choices on others and develop the skills needed to manage their behaviour and emotions effectively. When difficulties arise, we work with children to reflect, repair relationships and move forward positively.
Each class develops its own class agreement at the start of the year. These agreements are created with the children and clearly set out the behaviours that help everyone learn, feel safe and belong. They are revisited regularly throughout the year.
All staff are trained in the Trust's Relational Approach, ensuring that behaviour is supported consistently, fairly and with respect for each child's individual needs.
